In this session, you’ll find out about inclusive decision-making and leadership, and how you can adapt activities and meetings so everyone can have a great guiding experience. You’ll also learn how you can support young members and volunteers and how to report discrimination.
By the end of the session you will:
• Know which forms can be used to support members and volunteers
• Recognise examples of inclusive decision making and leadership
• Suggest ways to adapt activities and meetings
• Know how to report incidents of discrimination

Effective Communication for Leaders 24 June, 2026We are holding a session for Leaders to develop your communication skills.
This course will encourage leaders to think about the bigger impact of communication whilst exploring which style of communication is the best tool or media for communicating in their circumstances.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
• Be able to think about the ‘bigger picture’ when it comes to communication – body language, tone and active listening and what it might mean.
• Determine which style of communication would be most appropriate for different audiences and circumstances.
• Identify the best tool/ media for communicating for their circumstances.
This training will be taking place Thursday 8 October, 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Safer Guiding 14 July, 2026Join our next Safer Guiding training which is being held on Monday 5 October, 7:00pm – 9:00pm
During the session we’ll cover the role of the commissioner in managing concerns, allegations and disclosures. If any of this content may be a concern to you, please let us know in advance of the training.
In order to complete this course, you will need to attend both part 1 and part 2.

Please note: As spaces are limited to 22 per session; please only register if you can definitely attend and ensure that there is strictly one leader from your unit attending. If you have completed the training within the last 3 years, you do not need to redo the training. If you’re unsure when your renewal is due, please check your record on GO, or contact your commissioner.
If you’re a volunteer who has previously completed a safe space training, you only need to do this course when your highest level of a safe space expires. So if you have a safe space levels 1 and 2, you’ll only need to do safer guiding once your level 2 expires. This training must be renewed every 3 years.

A Safe Space Level 4 10 July, 2026Join us for our next A Safe Space level 4 training!
This training is for anyone taking a commissioner role. This training can also be completed by trainers delivering a safe space level 4, safeguarding leads and a safe space advisers. You’ll only need to do this training once and there’s no renewal.
This training will take place online on Tuesday 20 October, from 7:00pm – 9:30pm.

Young Leader Training Day 1 May, 2025Join Young Leaders from across the North West to work towards modules of the Young Leader Development Programme!
This is an opportunity for you to begin four modules of the Young Leader Development Programme (YLDP), speak to region experts for advice on all things relating to Young Leaders, and spend time with other Young Leaders from across the North West.
Please bring a packed lunch (nut free) and a water bottle. Please wear uniform.

Commissioner Support Workshop 1 October, 2026We would like to bring our Commissioners together to Air & Share on common tasks and obstacles they face in the role. Through this we want to breakdown the role into tasks, timelines and roles to help build and support Division, District and County teams.

We want you to join in the conversation and have your say, so we can create a truly personalised support system for our Commissioners in North West England.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please come along in uniform. There are good public transport options, with bus stops available close by and parking available at Region HQ.

These are open to all Commissioner roles at all levels and will be held on Zoom.
We wanted to create a space for all Commissioners (including Assistant and Deputy Commissioners) to come together and learn from each other and share your experiences.
Each session will have a specific topic/update for 20-30 mins, with time afterwards for air and share and Q&A. All the links to the meetings can be found on the website. The first few will cover:
