Working with the team at easyfundraising, we’ve developed the ‘Give back to guiding’ campaign for Senior Section members, to help them get involved in fundraising for units in a fun and effective way.
Easyfundraising has helped thousands of Girlguiding units raise over £300,000 in funding through online shopping. It’s completely free to use for all supporters; they simply collect a free donation whenever they shop online for a Unit of their choice. There are over 3,000 retailers giving donations, covering everything from insurance to fashion and groceries.
With a host of resources and support available, we are looking to encourage Senior Section members to help units across the Region raise funds with easyfundraising. This can count towards the Service in guiding element of the Queen’s Guide Award, and the Community Action or Independent Living elements of the Look Wider Award.
Where do The Senior Section Come in?
The key to success for units raising funds is to promote their easyfundraising page as much as possible, and to encourage parents to collect funds every time they shop online. There are a number of ways to promote this, including pre-made flyers, handouts, social media posts, emails and newsletters. This is where we want the tech-savvy, online shopping experts in The Senior Section to help out!
We want to put the fundraising responsibility in the hands of The Senior Section members. They will be responsible for setting up the easyfundraising account (or taking over the admin role from a Leader) and to provide information and support. This role will help to develop essential organisation and communication skills.
What to do Next:
We’ve worked alongside easyfundraising to create an exclusive information pack, specifically aimed at Senior Section members.
As well as a guide to get started, there is also an FAQ sheet and a range of tools to help them raise as much as possible!
Then, get the Unit signed up with easyfundraising:
Once they’ve read through the pack and feel ready to go, sign up to easyfundraising at http://girlguidesnwe.easyfundraising.org.uk, and start spreading the word and help raise as much as possible!
With a dedicated page on easyfundraising, it will be easy for Senior Section members to demonstrate how they have helped the Unit raise funds; a great addition to their awards record.
Good luck, we look forward to hearing about your success!
