Amanda Medler, Chief Guide has appointed Julie Walton as the Region Chief Commissioner designate for Girlguiding North West England. Julie, former county commissioner for Cumbria North is appointed from 1 November and will be working alongside Mel Price, current Region Chief Commissioner and Bekky Ashmore, Deputy Chief Commissioner, over the coming months before taking over in March next year.
Julie has been a member of Girlguiding since the age of 7, and since moving to Cumbria in 1987 has been a Guide leader, Rainbow leader, Brownie leader, district, division and county commissioner, DofE adviser, First Response and Safe Space trainer.
In taking on the role Julie said “I am extremely honoured and will always do my best to represent North West England well. The promise has always meant so much to me, in particular, the first line 'I promise that I will do my best'. I have always used this approach in everything I do and will continue to apply this to the role of Region Chief Commissioner. I am looking forward to working with everyone in the region and continuing the sterling work that Julie Bell, Mel Price and Bekky Ashmore have done over the last 5 years.”
