Be the change you want to see
Action for Change is Girlguiding’s project to create the UK’s largest girl-led advocacy network. In September, girls from across the North West Region will come together at a fantastic inspiration weekend to learn all about campaigning, public speaking, project management and more – before joining their local network to design their own social action projects and campaigns.
If you’re passionate about social change, this is your chance to get involved in something amazing.
We have two very exciting roles within this project which you can apply for. The Network Coordinators (aged 18 +) will support our younger members turn their ideas into action, helping them make a positive change in their community. The Action for Change Members (aged 14 - 25) will run their own social action projects and campaigns either as an individual, or as a small group.
To find out more about these roles, please take a look at the profiles below.
Action for Change Member
As a member, you will be running your own social action project either as an individual, or as a small group with your friends.
You’ll work closely with your Network Coordiantor who will be able to support you in whatever way you might need.
Your year in Action for Change will start at an exciting residential weekend with up to 50 other young members from your area where you’ll be talking ideas and inspiration and get help to start planning the difference you can make. There’ll be lots of skills builder workshops, inspiring speakers and time to talk and think. And we’ll give you a toolkit packed with tips and templates.
As a Network Coordinator, you will play a key role in the Action for Change programme. You will be responsible for supporting young members turn their ideas into action and helping them make positive change in their communities.
As a team of Network Coordinators, you will receive extensive training to help you in your role. You will facilitate workshops and discussions with a team of young members at the Inspiration Weekend on Friday 8 - Sunday 10 September. You will then support this team of 5-10 young members with their projects for the rest of the year, giving them the opportunity to design and deliver a unique social action project. This role includes:
- Coaching individual young members and guiding them towards possible solutions to any problems or challenges they face.
- Providing remote pastoral support for each young member through email, phone, social media or face to face meetings.
- Encouraging the girls to proactively use and contribute to the network.
This coaching role will help you develop skills and support your own personal development.
How do I Apply?
You will find more information about these roles within the flyers above. After you have read through this information, you can apply for these opportunities by using the links below.
For both of the roles you must be able to attend the Inspiration Weekend on Friday 8 - Sunday 10 September and be committed to being involved with the project for a full year.
